Agri Laws – Opening More Choices for the Farmers to Sell the Produce versus Age Old Middlemen Oriented System

If one hears out the agitating farmer leaders speaking on various channels, no one gives a logical reasoning as to why the farm laws are detrimental to farmers.

An analogy for farm produce and market model is given here, for better understanding for those who are still not very clear about the agri laws - A person starts up a business of manufacturing instruments but is barred from selling the instruments in the market directly. Instead he is told to sell through Instrument Manufacturers Market Committee (IMMC) only and inturn IMMC will sell it in the market then actually the startup owner loses on to its fair price and can never flourish. IMMC members on the other hand by selling those very instruments at a premium rake in the moolah! The IMMC is controlled by middlemen who decide the price of the product and charge the startup upto 8 % as their charges, in addition give loans on interest to the startups. How unfair the system is but for years this system makes the startups believe that it is the only way to do it. Suddenly the laws change and there is no requirement to go through the IMMC and a businessman or manufacturer who wants to sell his product in the open market may do so. By this the business startup gets fair price and wider market. These laws would make sure that according to one’s capability one could rake in the money. For a lesser capable startup IMMC process is still there and one can take the manufactured instrument and sell it through IMMC!

80 % to 85% farmers can now sell their produce in the open market and if it is difficult to grow and sell at the same time, then they can do contract farming. Where their produce can be picked up by the firm at the farm land itself. The rest 15% to 20 % farmers were already selling their produce at MSP to government FCIs. With the agri laws in place, the AMPCs middlemen now have to perform, will have to charge less to the farmers, will have to give correct market rates as other players would be competing.

Suddenly they felt that their turf has been reduced and that’s the real reason for their heartburn. They are middlemen but in the garb of a farmer agitating. They don’t have real reason so they don’t want to dialogue and summarily reject the agri laws! Therefore, from Yogendra Yadav to Ugrahan there is only rhetoric and no reasoning. There is only rabble rousing and no logic. There are only protests but no dialogue. The government has time and again requested for a dialogue; they have given proposals but without a dialogue only rhetoric remains. Mr Yogendra Yadav and Ugrahan wants their 2 min TRPs. This will also pass. Remember 1991 when economy was opened, leftists and others brought in many protests and there were 6 Bharat Bandhs. We all know where we are today because of reforms. In 1991 farm reforms were untouched as it was more delicate issue and we had missed the bus then. Now with these laws the farms reforms are here.

START A BETTER LIFE - 14 - LESSON 2 PART (V) - RATIONAL THINKERS

Rational thinking is difficult. Only a few ‘thinker’ mentality persons do it. Few are gifted with it. Some achieve this with practice, focus and intellect. To think rationally occasionally is difficult. More difficult is to think rationally, every time. Most difficult is to constantly think rationally, while doing all worldly things – throughout the life. Chapter 2 of Bhagwad Gita deals with rational thinking till 38th stanza. For rational thinkers the perspective towards life and world vision is based on questioning and balanced thinking. They think of energy, matter, its transformation. They are ever conscious of the thought of ‘energy is everything’. The one who perceives everything around as energy instead of different forms, differences and divisions is a perfect rational thinker. They don’t see divisions but the energy which links everything. Infact energy is everything.

Each of living and non-living in this comprehensible universe and beyond has energy. When energy gets associated with matter, it gets a form. Form is temporary with respect to time. Energy is permanent. Humans therefore should not lament on loss of any form. Loss of form and return to energy is bound to happen, if not today then tomorrow. Energy is eternal. The form which gets destroyed over a period of time cannot be a reason to lament or brood over. So, the rationalists focus only on the energy. They are not affected by any worldly interactions as they find everything very futile and are engrossed in enjoying the energy and experiencing themselves as a part of the energy. Let’s take an example – a lay person perceives an earthen pot as earthen pot, used to store and cool water. Whereas a rationalist though acknowledges it as an earthen pot, knows the truth – that it is nothing but made up of small mud particles or rather it is made up of fundamental particles. In a way it is energy with a form of a pot and that form is temporary.  He uses it as long it is there. When it breaks, the lay person feels bad as he had attached memories with it, he feels it was his, but no longer there and has lost something. Whereas in the same situation, a rationalist, sees the same earthen pot as ‘mud’ before and mud after it broke. For a rationalist, there was no change and therefore, no lament as there was no loss. A rationalist would never feel perturbed for the broken earthen pot nor rejoice when it was not broken. A true rationalist sees no divide only energy everywhere without any division………. START A BETTER LIFE - 13 - LESSON 2 PART (IV) - THREE EXERCISES FOR THREE TYPES

1.     Mental makeup - Rationalists and Atheists.  – This is the most difficult exercise. It requires intent to walk the thought. For half an hour think about ‘Origin of Universe’ how it must have happened. Give a deep thought. Apply all laws of physics and science. Ask oneself where we humans stand in the whole universe. Think about the origin of energy. We say that energy cannot be created nor can be destroyed. If this was to be true there had to be energy prior to Big Bang. If there was something prior to big bang then that something must have come to an end prior to the big bang or must have got converted into the big bang. If there was something else then bigbang cannot become the start. There had to be something else prior to big bang. What was that something else. How did the energy transform into the matter? Is there any intelligence to the energy? What is consciousness? Is it a form of energy? Many questions. Try to answer them by applying all the intelligence that one has. Take each question to logical conclusion. Form such questions and enquire yourself till your self is satisfied. Read a philosophical book. Every alternate day spend the morning hour in this manner. Once started, questions will keep coming and the thought process would become more and more organized sharp. Alternate exercise would bring in fresh thoughts and also place oneself in the correct perspective vis a vis the Universe. The outlook towards life will undergo a shift and will change towards higher conscience and higher goals.

2.     Mental makeup – Service oriented – Start with a small prayer.  The prayer should be in the language which one understands. The attributes of the prayer are described in the next paragraph on Mental makeup – Devotional Minded. For next half an hour, list the short term and long-term work one has to perform. It should cover the work which one undertakes to earn money, and the work which should be undertaken for the society and for the larger good of the society. Call it service towards larger goal of society or simply social service. Try to list the work that  one has to accomplish in terms of one’s profession, service or business. While doing this try to think about a work which is a service to the society and devote some time to carryout that service. Be it financially, or be it in physical effort for carrying out the work. Through some NGO or directly by self. The work so chosen be carried out without any attachment or expectation in term of return, reward or recognition. For example, if one wants to help a poor family. Help the family but don’t get attached to the thought that since the family was helped it should return the help in some way or other in future. This is a difficult exercise. Difficult because, one can think that they can do it easily, in everyday life it is difficult to achieve and it requires resolve to execute the plan. Once it is achieved, gradually expand the circle of this service as a practice and develop it in such a way that there is no attachment towards the results or the benefits. When one plans and work to earn money or recognition, it will be always associated with happy and sad moments as there is an attachment and expectation for the results, but if one plans and work for betterment of society or for a larger goal then one derives only and only joy out of that. This is a learning for the individual. Slowly when the goal shifts from earning to non-attachment the bliss surrounds.

3.     Mental makeup – Devotional minded - Keep eyes closed. Call out a prayer. Prayer should be in the language which one understands. Preferably in the mother tongue, or in the language which the person understands well. It should be short and simple. Made up of small statements. The statements should be positive, holistic and should cover noble goals. The prayer should never contain any negative statements or aimed at hatred at someone or wishing bad things for somebody. The statements of prayer should be such that they give positive conditioning to the mind. Preferably prayer should be recited everyday at the same time in same sequence and should be uttered in the same language. If regularly recited with conviction it has the power to energize whole body and mind system. It has the power to condition the mind. It has the power to make the reciter have positive thoughts, make the outlook positive and optimistic. Prayer has the power to have firm conviction on the things and ideas which we have conceived as thoughts. This conviction becomes the driver for the things which the person does. It is said that our action is driven by thoughts. Prayer makes the thoughts positive and therefore our actions become more constructive, positive and synchronous with nature.  After the prayer, chant in a comfortable rhythm. Chant for fifteen minutes. It should be loud. Not very loud to disturb others but loud enough to be heard by our own ears like a side tone. The next fifteen minutes chant in mind. There is no need of counting the chants. In counting, the focus shifts in counting rather than the chants. The effect of chanting is therapeutic and it changes the outlook towards life and others. This is the easiest of all three mental makeups on the road to bliss. It requires nothing special; it can be carried out anywhere and only requires unrequited trust in God.

These exercises are for uninitiated or curious persons who wish to mitigate their daily worries, anxiety and other such problems. These exercises are for those who want to start the day to day life based on teachings of Bhagwat Gita. Those who want to derive therapeutic guidance may also try these exercises. Those who are in search of happiness should also try these exercises. These exercises pave the way to joy and subsequently to bliss.

BENGALURU RIOTS 2020

On August 11, Naveen, nephew of Congress leader and a present MLA, R Akhanda Srinivasa Murthy, posted an “offensive post” about Prophet Mohammed, which hurt the religious sentiments of the Islamic community. Soon after the post went viral, hundreds of ‘peaceful’ people went on a rampage. The mob attacked DJ Halli police station, set ablaze vehicles, and destroyed the furniture. Within an hour, protestors set ablaze around 200 - 250 police and private vehicles, smashed the belongings of MLA Murthy and his relatives. An ATM was smashed into pieces. The protestors blocked fire brigade to enter the area. It is obvious that this cannot happen without prior planning. It requires high coordination. Protestors tried to lodge an FIR against Naveen but were reportedly denied. They then started shouting slogans, pelting stones and torching vehicles near the KG Halli police station.

Two hours after the protest, local police authorities resorted to lathi-charge, lobbed tear gas shells, and later opened fire to control the violent protest. There were 3 deaths reported in aftermath of the riots. Naveen, the accused, removed the post from his Facebook account and claimed that his account was hacked.

The police were later given a “freehand” to control the ‘peaceful’ of violent attacks that lasted till early morning. The case has been handed over to a magisterial investigation into the riots by a sitting judge.  On the lines of UP government, this govt has taken a stand of making the protestors pay for the destruction of govt property. Many protesters were from poor background, peaceful and were from outside Bengaluru. The citizens’ forum consisted of eminent personalities conducted an independent enquiry and found that the riots were preplanned. Many of the rioters were local and targeted those Hindu houses which were in ‘peaceful’ majority area.

Fingers are getting raised at Progressive Front of India (PFI) as a force behind these riots. PFI was started in Kerala from National Development Front in 2006. Thereafter many fronts from other states merged in it - Karnataka Forum for Dignity of Karnataka some other fronts and forums from Tamil Nadu, Manipur, Andhra Pradesh, Goa Rajasthan and West Bengal to name a few. PFI actively advocates Muslim reservations, personal law courts for Muslims, cause of Dalits, Muslims and tribals, and scholarships to deprived Muslim students. The slogan of PFI is Naya Karavan: Naya Hindustan. It has found embroiled many controversies including murders of RSS, ABVP activists and and CPI (M) activists (as claimed by CPI (M)) and has connections with Students Islamic Movement of India which is now banned. PFI is the mother body of Social Democratic Party of India. SDPI is a political party founded in 2009 at New Delhi. This party is against CAA, wanted to built babri mashid in 2016 was on the forefront of stir against Mathrubhoomi media.

Naveen is a 34 year nephew of Congress MLA R Akhanda Srinivas Murthy and trying to become popular. He is ambitious and placing himself as prospective MLA candidate in the next Karnataka Assy elections. He had distributed sweets after Bhumi poojan of Ayodhya Ram temple on 05th Aug and also rejoiced when Rahat Indori expired.

Tailpiece – For last 6 yrs India has witnessed almost nil terror attacks but has witnessed concerted planned violent protests allegedly fanned by urban naxals, left leaning intelligentsia and persons having close affinity with Congress and some regional parties. Be it CAA, anti NEET and JEE exams in Septermber 2020, NRC, lynchings, creating stir out of nothing like Vemula suicide case or riots in Jamia, JNU and left leaning institutions. Nation loving citizens should be vigilant enough to see through orchestrations of these people and should be able to thwart and restrict their design to destroy the fabric of India and to bring bad name to the government. Take the case of Delhi riots 2020 it seems that the riots were pre planned and the perpetrators used Mr Kapil Mishra so that the ir conspiracy remains hidden and people blame Mr Mishra (a hindu) for the riots, likewise here also the riots were preplanned and used the act of Mr Naveen so that people again blame Naveen (a hindu) and the real planners get shielded from the public eye.  They are more dangerous than terrorists, as they indulge in antinational activities from within the fabric of our Nation donning civil clothes and feigning as intellectuals writers professors and activists.

PRAYER

You get a restless feeling. A thought of someone’s presence brushes your mind. You turn your head in that direction and find someone staring at you. It happens many times. A feeling starts a string of thoughts. We feel, or rather the way we feel about something gives birth to various thoughts. The thoughts remain as thoughts or when thoughts drive us to act, action happens. Action results in achieving our goals or leads to some reaction. If we feel good our thoughts are optimistic and positive, resulting in constructive action. Action gives us sorrow or joy. Productive action boosts the self-esteem. The boosted self-esteem brings in good feelings. This makes our mood upbeat and gives a happy feeling. A healthy mindset helps in keeping our physical health in good state. Mind and body are connected. When one feels good, it influences the body. In turn if the body is exercised properly then it keeps the mind fit.

In order to keep mind and body fit, both body and mind require exercises. Along with physical and breathing exercises for body, mental conditioning exercises enhances the will power and helps us in being focussed.

We sense this world through our mind and therefore buoyant mind is of utmost importance. If our mind is healthy, we see things differently. Prayer is a mental exercise tool. As prayer cannot influence material things, a prayer for material gains will not yield anything. Prayer shapes the mind and changes the mental outlook towards the life for better. With prayer in mind, our mind becomes free from external influences and remain cheerful and positive. Prayer has the power to have firm conviction in the ideas which we conceive.  Prayer helps in improving the mental health. Improved mental health motivates the person to act, maintain physical health or at the least cope up with whatever ailments we come across from time to time. In a way it influences the person in the right direction which makes him ready to face the real world.

Prayer should be in the language which one understands, preferably in the mother tongue. It should be simple and made up of small statements in active voice. It should never contain any negative statements, hatred or bad wish for someone. The statements should be encouraging, holistic and should have a noble goal. We are part of the universe and not a separate entity, a prayer based on self being a part of universe opens up mind, so, the contents of the prayer should start from the betterment of universe through betterment of self. That gives a wider vision, a greater canvas and stops a person from getting entwined in small issues. Self-centred prayer makes a person self-centred and selfish. It no longer remains a prayer and accrue no benefits.

A prayer should be formulated by self for self. It should not be flaunted or discussed with anyone. It should be remembered and recited for self by self. If it is not formulated by self then a well-established prayer should be adopted after understanding the meaning of the prayer. Get up early morning, finish the morning ablutions. Sit comfortably. Close the eyes, calm the mind and recite the prayer in the same sequence every day. This act should be done before the start of the first activity of the daily routine. At the end of the day, it is better to remember the prayer and show gratitude that the day has passed well. If regularly recited with conviction it strengthens the mind and body system.

Some examples of prayers which motivate the society are given here. Observe that the contents of the prayer start from the betterment of our nation or Universe. These are examples and not a complete list -

National anthem. We know how it inspires our minds. It is a prayer.

National song. We know how it ignited the minds of freedom fighters. It is a prayer. During freedom struggle it became an incantation.

“The safety, honour and welfare of our Nation comes first, always and every time.
The honour, welfare and comfort of the men you command come next.
Your own ease, comfort and safety come last, always and every time.”

- The Indian Army creed – A prayer revered by every officer of Indian Army. Note the meaning of life embedded in this prayer. It has the power to transform the minds of army men.

Guru is Almighty, we bow to that Guru.

We all be protected. We all be nourished. We work together with great energy. May our learning be effective. Let there be no Animosity amongst us. Let there be peace everywhere.

Imagine the change happen within the child when the prayer is recited everyday (after understanding the meaning). The reverence for the teacher will do immense good in child’s formative years by becoming a good student to the teacher.

May all beings be at peace, may no one suffer from illness. May all see what is auspicious, Let there be no sorrow. Let there be peace everywhere.

(Lead us) from the unreal to the truth, darkness to light, from death to immortality. Let there be peace everywhere.

May peace radiate in the sky, and in the space. May peace be on earth, in water, in all herbs, trees and creepers. May peace be in the universe. May peace be in the Supreme Being. May peace be everywhere.

Note the concept of betterment of universe is betterment of self and betterment of self contributes to the betterment of the universe. A perfect prayer for all of us.

A reflection of a perfect prayer in this RSS prayer which has influenced many social workers -

I bow to you, O my always caring motherland.

I have been happily raised in this Hindu land (Bharat)

My life, O great blessed holy Land, be laid down for you. I bow to you.

O all powerful almighty we the children of Hindu Rashtra (Hindustan) bow to you in reverence.

To carryout your duties only we have organized our self. Please bless us to fulfil that work.

Grant us such might as no power on earth can defeat us,

Such purity of character which would command the respect of all

Such wisdom that would ease the thorny path that I have chosen.

The unflinching adherence to the resolve makes me progressive and supremely blessed

Let this resolve remain live in the heart.

Make us capable to use our organised power to successfully carry out the work of protecting our way of life and to take our nation to heights of grandeur.

Hail Bharat!

An individual must construct the prayer for self. An example of such a prayer is given here-

My life is for my Nation.

I live for my Nation. I work for the progress of my Nation.

The progress of my Nation, makes the world much better (to live).

Let our world be a facilitator for the betterment of whole universe.

This is my conviction.

I want to give a positive direction to our society.

For this, I will get opportunities.

I will use these opportunities in a proper way to attain my goal.

Destiny will shape my future in a right manner to do this.

My will power is getting enhanced.

I can feel it.

To do all this, let me remain healthy. Let my body immunity remain strong.

Today’s day be good. Let me free of obstacles. I hope this happens.

Almighty you are the enabler I am just a medium.

This will happen.

In short as an example the IMA credo can be adapted this way -

“The safety, honour and welfare of our Nation comes first, always and every time.
The honour, welfare and comfort of the family you belong to come next.
Your own ease, comfort and safety come last, always and every time.”

Our outlook is a mind game. Train our mind and our life journey becomes easy. Tame our mind and we feel good. Medical science suggests same. Philosophy points in the same direction. Experience of mankind has taught us to evolve tools to control the mind. Prayer is an effective, easy to adopt mind trainer. A prayer is a must to lead a purposeful quality life. Parents and teacher should inculcate habit of reciting a prayer in their children and students. Youngsters should formulate their own prayer. Grownups should evolve the formulated prayer as the years pass by. As the years pass by such is the influence of recitation, that the mind grasps the contents of the prayer by mere thought of the prayer. This is when the transformation starts and the result is calmness, focus, meaningfulness and heightened quality of life. Such a transformed mind gets a sharp sixth sense. A developed ability to read that feeble sixth sense guides us to make right choices leading to right path.
