SAMUDRAMANTHAN

SAMUDRAMANTHAN

People are becoming impatient and have started getting demoralized thinking that greedy corrupt rich Indians have successfully circumvented the system. Roped in bank managers, made a racket and have almost converted black money to white by depositing in the bank. By mere putting in the bank money cannot change color. There will be prolonged period of investigation of these accounts and many skeletons will tumble out sooner or later.
A very big exercise is underway and it would take time to get the results. It is like Samudramanthan. For days churning will take place. There will be ifs and buts, ups and downs, cat and mouse games. There will be long periods of investigations and raids. There will be false propaganda by detractors of demonetization and people having self interest in securing black money. There will be some blind followers opposing demonetization for the sake of opposing as their parties oppose demonetization for obvious reasons.
Some bank managers are indulging in unscrupulous dealings and because of which people are not getting their due withdrawals. The government should keep raiding and clamping on such managers mercilessly in order to protect commoners and their legitimate demand for money.
Some people think becoming cashless overnight is not possible and it is stupidity what government is asking. They think India is not ready for cashless economy. Any such large scale migration from cash to cashless would take time but with Government being proactive and individuals putting in their efforts the time can be telescoped very easily. We should have resolve to make our Nation more and more corruption free and one step towards that is cashless economy. If we agree that we want to be a less corrupt society then we must migrate towards cashless transactions. If we transact 20 % cashless and 80 % with cash we must try to migrate slowly in next couple of months to maximize cashless transactions. With little application one can go upto 50 – 50 % and with concerted effort we can achieve 80% cashless by value.
Also as a nation, if today there are 20 % cashless transactions government should aim at 60 % cashless by end of March and 70 to 80 % cash less transaction by value by end of next year in the first phase. This is possible. When I interact many people say that in remote villages cashless is difficult. Yes it is difficult and no rational thinker would want to switch to cashless overnight. As a nation if we can achieve 70 % cashless by value it is enough as a first step migration. Then these remote villages can be considered in 30% cash transactions and can be converted into cashless by end of phase 2.
People say, earlier Modi said war was against black money. Now he says - go cashless. He is changing goal post. I say, every step is towards cleaner transparent transactions. To ease out black money, demonetization was required. Cashless transactions are key to enlarge tax net. For GST, cashless transactions are beneficial. To curb black money generation cashless would give traceability. We should not see things in isolation. Demonetisation and cashless transactions complement each other in curbing black money. The first phase of demonetization is now getting over and therefore cashless phase is being propagated aggressively by the government.  All these years there used to be talk of black money by political parties, when in opposition. When in power, there used to be only lip service by various parties. For the first time a party in power and a decisive PM has proactively started war against black money. All these years BJP was considered as a party of traders and in spite of this the PM has taken such a strong step speaks volumes of his intentions and will to take on all adversaries in this fight against corruption.

This samudramanthan will take time. It is a long drawn process. Patience, trust and resolve is solicited from those Indians who want their country to curb the black money menace.

DEMONETIZATION

Scrapping of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 rupee notes in a surprise move has hit the following very hard –
-          Kashmir Separatists – Fake notes were rendered useless overnight and the terror funding got killed overnight. There is no stone pelting incidence, school torching incidence after 8th Nov 16. Otherwise for last more than 100 days everyday there were incidences where in terrorists were creating ruckus. These terrorists were funded by ISI and separatists in fake and black money currencies mostly of 500 rs and 1000 rs note denominations.
-          Maoists and Naxalites – Almost overnight these cash dependent insurgent activities came to standstill.
-          ULFA, BODO – Same as the case of Maoists and Naxalites they are biting the dust.
-          Drug Peddlers and Trafficking are mostly dependent on cash transactions, fake currency and higher denomination notes. They are out of business now.
-          Antinationals and other enemies of Nation dependent upon black money are bewildered and don’t know what to do.
-          Black money hoarders have been caught by surprise though these unscrupulous hoarders are trying every trick to somehow convert black to white but their numbers are less and are at risk to try so.
-          Political parties’ election funding has got adversely affected and that has prompted large scale demonstrations from them against demonetization although they know that it is good for the nation. When it comes to survival they can go to any extent and oppose it because it causes them inconvenience for funding elections. Therefore Mamta Banerjee of TMC is ready to sit alongside Leftiests. Kejriwal of AAP has gone insane as he has been robbed of his moral high ground against corruption in more than one way. SP and Mayawati of BSP are in the same boat. Congress under Rahul Gandhi doesn’t know what to do. With so many political parties against and so much of short term pain citizens are undergoing, there would have been manufactured riots and arson funded by likes of these parties. Manufacture of arson depends upon large denomination black money notes it is not happening. Otherwise these parties would have gone to any extent. This is one more proof that demonetization has started pinching where it is aimed at.
Many articles in Indian media and International media have started appearing against demonetization and if anyone sees the background of the authors one can easily understand that most of them are from camps of leftists, or parties opposing demonetization for their ulterior motives and Indians (writing for foreign media as their personal opinions – many of them are from JNU a leftist bastion for long). Same is the case with rumors being circulated on whatsapp and other social media. If one studies the authors (and their background) of articles on demonetization very surprising pattern emerges. I cannot tell you more. Reader is intelligent enough. Then there are media reporters who in order to increase TRPs goes berserk in reporting by making tall claims standing alongside ATM queue trying to create panic among the viewers.
The political parties opposing demonetization say that PM should have given two month notice for stopping 1000 rs denomination notes and 6 month notice before taking out 500 rs notes out of circulation. If this would have done by the government then what would have been the reaction of these opposition members and also reaction of stone pelters, black money hoarders and school torchers? Opposition would have said that giving prior notice means allowing black money hoarders to change the currency from black to white as they have one month and six months respectively and enemies of nation would have got alerted and they would have created havoc in these 6 months available to them.
Some say they should have recalibrated the ATMs prior to demonetization – this is euphemized way of saying that demonetization should have been declared at a later date and people should have given time to convert black to white money. As the secrecy would been in jeopardy.
Some say that first Swiss money should have brought in – it is always easy to tackle problems which are more or less under own jurisdiction. Modi had never said that he would put 15 lakhs in each account from swiss money. If one goes by the video available in public domain of his election speech, he said in that speech and I quote “ there are reports that people have stashed money in Swiss accounts. It is a big money and with that money large infrastructure projects for building a prosperous India can be deployed” and to explain the extent of stashed money he gave analogy of it amounting to having 15 lakh rs in every account. Anyone can download the speech which is available in audio video in media.
Some say the inconvenience to the people would result in anger against the government and BJP would buy it in the elections as angry citizens would not vote for them –their reading is wrong. People are happy that PM has taken strong measure against cheaters. They are ready to slug it out. Even if BJP loses in the near future because of short term anger, demonetization would help the nation in getting rid of black money, fake money and terror funding. Therefore the step taken by PM shows the resolve of PM and also shows true colors of Congress, AAP and their likes.
There will be slow down. There will be cash crunch. There will be long queues (have we forgotten standing in all types of long queues for ration, kerosene and other essentials a few years back?). There will be voices against demonetization by vested interests. There will be rumors floating by people who want to show demonetization in poor light. There will be some adverse reactions. BJP may lose some elections. Old adage says there is no gain without pain.
People of India supported Congress for 60 years. What they got. Long lines for rations. License Raj, corruption, nepotism, policy paralysis, and weak governance. People have elected Modi for change. He is in third year of his tenure and he has taken many big time measures encompassing every sphere of life of a common man. Some may yield short term gains but mostly the steps are for long term gains. The exercise for demonetization started long time back. First SIT was instituted for stashed money in foreign accounts. There were various treaties and dialogs with countries to expedite the stashed money information from those countries. It was followed by harsh laws on stashed money and tax havens in the form of making PMLA 2000 act stronger. When all these were happening government started Jan Dhan yojana which resulted in around 25 crore accounts and covering 99% families. Aadhar was used extensively for DBT to the benefit  crores of accounts which reduced the leakages in money flow. This was then followed by asking individuals for IDS and the time limit was given up to 30 Sep 2016. The launderers declared around 65, 000 cr rupees. With the demonetization on 08 Nov it is one of the many measures step by step to be taken to weed out black money laundering and to sniff out terror sponsorship. This is not all. PM has promised that he will crack down on Benami properties. The citizens of India who are law abiding should note that the PM’s decisions were not knee jerk and still surprise element was maintained. They should heave a sigh that at last someone is walking the talk and not just using the clichéd ‘war on black money’ for usurping power and using it selectively.

RAHUL GANDHI YOU ARE A LIAR

Frustrated Rahul Gandhi has started stooping to lowest rung to gain cheap popularity. He says that OROP has not been implemented and MODI is lying. There are equally rash statements from Kejriwal and AAP.

For years Congress denied to act upon OROP issue (nearly 40 years). NDA government not only adopted the OROP but also implemented it in two years.

Some ex servicemen are unhappy as they say that it is not implemented in toto by their definition. The civilians and ex-servicemen should understand that by implementation of OROP so many ex-servicemen could get the arrears in time during their life. For 40 years which congress denied OROP, hundreds of thousands of ex-servicemen could have benefitted which Congress denied all these years. Many of them are not alive to see the OROP.

The government should put names of all the beneficiaries in public domain. To quell the misinformation strategy of Congress.

No doubt this is being done by Congress and AAP keeping an eye on the forthcoming elections and the winter session of parliament.

The civilians should note that EX SERVICE men have received OROP any struggle/ dharna by ex – service men at Jantar Mantar is a farce – promoted by Congress and AAP and some greedy ex – servicemen.

SURGICAL STRIKES

People of our country are happy for the surgical strikes. Modi detractors are asking for proof of the attack. Army has got the proof but would not like to put it in the public domain for security reasons and rightly so the proof should not be made public or if made public the video footage should be made public after editing without revealing the tactics and other sensitive issues.
The exercise was started when intelligence agencies gathered intelligence since the valley was boiling for last two months. It came to light that all the stone pelting protests after Burhan Wani’s death was stage managed by Pakistan and money was siphoned through hawala and other routes. A coordinated effort by our intel and security agencies was put in. While this exercise was underway, Uri attacks happened.   The exercise which started two months back culminated with surgical strikes. Surgical strike was not a knee jerk reaction after URI attack but a well thought coordinated plan based on months of intel gathering.
Strikes were carried out earlier also but as a national policy they were never declared as that time it was thought that declaring it would hamper the back channel talks or direct dialogue with Pakistan. The dialog and back channel talks never ever yielded any tangible results nor did it cut down terror attacks on our Nation by Pakistan. The dialog was useless but the then Government wanted to try. Even the present government did try to resolve by dialog. Prime minister himself several times took initiatives in that direction but there is a limit.
Invocation of Baluchistan issue in Prime Minister’s 15 Aug speech, consisted of few sentences and it was just a passing reference in his hour long speech but shift in policy change was a result of well thought after plan. With the Uri attacks the government concluded that although the plan was in the right direction but the pace was not. So now with accelerated pace, the plan of diplomatically isolating Pakistan, to unearth Hawala transactions from Pakistan and separatists, to downgrade MFN status of Pakistan, to give free hand to defense forces to act against the attackers, to review Indus water treaty, to neutralize the launch pads and to strike at the attackers. This to be done as the new reviewed Indian policy to defend our nation from the Pakistan’s proxy war.
As a result of this reviewed policy, surgical strikes were officially declared by the Army. The Government was successful in showing to the world and to our nation that Pakistan’s bluff of nuclear retaliation was nothing more than just chest thumping. The official declaration of surgical strikes achieved following spin offs –
-          This has resulted in massive internal crisis following major showdown between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Army Chief Raheel Sharif.
-          Massive protests in Baluchistan against Pak atrocities.
-          Our citizens became aware of our capability.
-          There was immediate rise in the confidence level and countrymen experienced an air of supremacy.
-          We saw many countries openly taking sides - we came to know our friends and those who are not. More or less everybody supported the strikes and thus Pakistan got further isolated.
-          There was a unifying effect across the political parties irrespective of ideology and had a rallying effect.
-          There might be one or two fidayeen attacks as an act of desperation and frustration but that cost we as a nation should be ready to absorb.
Feeling of we are safely guarded by our soldiers is great but we should guard ourselves from opportunists, pseudo intelligentsia and selfish citizens of our country who are handful but more harmful than enemy.

SIACHEN GLACIER

SIACHEN

Information about Siachen Glacier -

About 50 million years ago a big island in Tethys ocean called Indian subcontinent, started drifting northwards and collided with Asian subcontinent. The collision resulted in creation of four ranges – lowermost Himalaya Range was made up sea level earth/ soil and is vulnerable to land slides, Zanskar range north of Himalaya range was made up of ocean floor of Tethys ocean, Ladakh Range north of Zanskar of granite – which was result of high temperature and pressure churning during the drift and collision and the north most is the Karakoram range. Siachen lies in Karakoram Range.

Siachen is the 2nd largest glacier in the world after artic glaciers and the altitude lies from 11000 feet to 23000 feet. Temperatures experienced are from – 5 deg to -40 deg. Winds upto 80 kmph bring in the chill factor. It is around 75 km long and around 70 km in breadth. Nowhere in the world this combination of low temperatures and high altitude exists. Karakoram range is the source of Indus river which flows from Ladakh  - Kargil – POK.

Siachen is claimed on the basis of Oct 1947 accession of J & K to India and Karachi Agreement in 1949 and it says line going north of NJ 9842 (actually square NJ 39 98 000 13 42 000), from the Saltaro ridge and beyond. Pakistanis claim is north of line emerging from NJ 9842 and going north east towards Karakoram pass. They claim all north of it is their territory.

Occupation of Siachen by Indian troops code named as Operation Meghadoot  was launched on 13 Apr 1984.

With the following aim –

-          To secure Saltaro ridge to secure glacier in the East.
-          To dominate Pak positions west of Saltaro.
-          To block infiltration
-          To curtail Pak adventurism in Turtuk and South of it.
-          To secure Indira col which overlooks Shagskam valley and denies Pak access to Karakoram pass.

The LAC is line of actual control facing China.
The LC is Line of control facing Pakistan.
The AGPL is actual ground control position line in the Siachen Glacier.

The run up for Operation Meghdoot started in 1975 when col Narender Kumar (a post in Siachen is named after him) who was on deputation to National Sking School Srinagar, Sheikh Abdulla then chief minister told Mr Kumar to help German Sking and rafting tourists. They went upto Sasoma which is last road head. At that time Col Kumar noticed the maps which Germans brought had markings on it which aligned the line beyond NJ 9842 in the north east direction instead of north. The information was given to AHQ and there was a meeting between Gen Chibber (Dir Gen Mil Op), Gen Hoon (GOC North Cpmmand) and RAW’s Vikram Sood. It was decided that patrols would be sent at regular intervals to the region and therefore Polar Bear I, II, III patrols were sent from 1978 till 1983. Pak protested and started readying to occupy the glacier. Force Cdr North Area (FCNA) of Pak planned for occupation sometime between Jan 84 - Sep 84. At that time, President was Zia Ul Haq. The plan was to hold Gyong Pass in the south, Siala and Bila Fondla passes. It was called as Op Ababeel.

Op Meghdoot was launched ahead of Op Ababeel and Indians surprised Pakistanis. This Op Meghdoot resulted getting control of Siala and Bilafondla passes over Saltaro thereby having control over the Siachen Glacier. 1999 Kargil war – one of the objectives of Pak was to recapture parts of Siachen.

TREASURE FROM TREASON

On 9th of February there was a “Cultural Program” organized by Abdul and supported by him in the JNU campus. The event was organized to remember Afzal Guru. Posters referring that were pasted all over the campus. The event took place to oppose so called judicial killing. It is irrelevant whether Kanhaiyaa shouted Anti India slogans or someone from the gathering shouted. The fact that it was supported by Kanhiyaa and attended it is enough.

Kanhaiyaa gets arrested on sedition charge. Next day Congress, Left all with their supporters throng JNU and term it as “Expression of freedom of speech”.

There are also rumours that Barkha Dutt met him before his speech. After a rap from the Court on bail now Kanhaiyya changes his tactics and says that he is for India and against Modi and RSS. Supporting Afzal Guru is not protesting against Modi Mr Kanhaiyaa. Your anti Modiesm is an afterthought just to get away from sedition charge.

Most of the English Channels laud him saying his speech was “electrifying” and he is the poster boy for future politics. Many channels forget the content and instead look for TRPs. Left and Congress wants to use him for their upcoming poll as the stakes are high for them.

For 31 year old Kanhaya who is a “student” in JNU, doing research in some subject has discovered a treasure in treason. Channels are concerned with their TRPs. Congress and Left want to manufacture some kind of nonsense. In this confusion if Kanhaiya thinks that by giving an electrifying speech people are going to forget his anti-India tendencies then it is wrong.

We will never forget that Kanhaiya has anti India tendencies. We will never forget that Congress Vice president Rahul Gandhi supported such a person. We will never forget that just to get away from sedition charge you attacked Modi and RSS. We will never forget Congress and Left just for their election used him. We will never forget that English Channels conveniently forgot that he supported anti India program and they used him for raising their TRPs.

Tail Piece – Who supports anti India movement is a traitor. There is no confusion in that. So electrifying speech or not. Kanhaiya or Abdul. if they are against India then any amount of afterthought would not change the perception in our minds. So Mr Kanhaiya you just concentrate on passing your PhD. You have proved that you are a very average student rather weak student and so concentrate on passing exams  rather than teaching us.

GOD SAVE THE PARTY

Rahul Gandhi says right to protest has to be respected. By showing his presence at the JUN gathering, Rahul Gandhi has shown less of leadership and revealed more about his understanding of issues.

Right to protest is a fundamental right given by constitution in a democracy and Indian democracy has this. Freedom comes with some constraints and as GBS says “your freedom ceases to exists where my nose starts” when a person citing his freedom starts brandishing his walking stick and precisely this concept of freedom and its constraints have been missed by Rahul Gandhi.

Protests against corruption, pay rise, price rise, rising crime or any such thing is okay. It is certainly not okay when a platform is used to eulogize a terrorist, to eulogize an antinational and supporting it is a serious flaw in once understanding. What happened in JNU is precisely that. The function and so called cultural programme was used to eulogize AFZAL GURU.

God save the Congress party.

POOR COORDINATION BETWEEN VARIOUS CIVIC AGENCIES

HAL old airport road near HAL Helicopter Division and going towards Marathahalli, was done up complete with cobbled pavements few months back (about 5 – 6 months). Before even the dust settled and the finishing touches dried, 7/ 8 days back a telecom company (most probably Reliance – I was not able to confirm this) has started digging and has almost destroyed the pavement.

Some photographs are attached. To see for yourself and judge. What a waste of taxpayer’s money being blatantly wasted because of Bureaucratic complacency coupled with  not paying heed to coordinate between agencies which carry out civic works and legislative wings for not having proper policy and vision resulting in shoddy work all over. In Bangalore roads are perpetually under construction.

The roads are made, redug, shoddy finishing properly, the debri is not cleaned and before the final touches are carried out, it is dug by some other agency. This is a same story. Many times newspapers have written on it, cartoons are made but this is there in Bangalore, may be more of a design for corruption than anything else.

Few years back I had written on my blog RASHTRAVRAT http://www.rashtravrat.blogspot.in/2011/05/case-study-of-road.html  about it and it really hurts when I see it happening everywhere.

NEGATIVE NEWS INCREASE TRP RATINGS

I often see and listen to young journalists covering a news item and presenting it on TV or media channels. I read their articles in newspapers. Many times it gives a feeling that these young journalists are in a hurry. Instead of giving just news, they act like an advertisement agency. First their news reporting is not objective. They play to the gallery and try to increase TRP ratings. They have limited exposure and limited knowledge about various subjects being discussed; this is natural as they have limited educational background, limited exposure and more importantly don’t have will and time to study the subject. This results in a news broadcast or a news article which is far from ground reality as their reporting is subjective, prejudiced and incorrect. The same is offered to the public. This is especially applicable to English news channels and papers. They are big players and have their targets fixed by theirs CEOs.

Take the case of Josy Joseph of HINDU newspaper reporting on Pathankot Terror Attack (dated 04 Jan 16). Prejudiced reporting was at its peak. In the article, it was stated that the reaction (to the fidayeen attack) was not well coordinated inspite of knowing the locations of the terrorists and security forces could not nab them well in time and contain the attack. Such statements emerge more often from airconditioned plush offices. Actually news can be written without going to the location. In the comforts of the office, once the framework is known from PTI or ANI then, in order to give personal touch to the story, what one needs to do is to just interspace it by including statements like “many senior defense officers on the condition of anonymity said so and so” or like “the course mate of Lt Col (Martyred in the operation) brought out the lack of coordination within the forces”. This along with prejudiced personal statements makes TRP gathering news. Negative news gets more TRPs than positive news. The statements from friends in the organization on which the article is being written cannot become basis for any objective news reporting. The credibility of the news nosedives the moment objectivity ends. Jocy Joseph’s article is a TRP gathering article.

Tailpiece – Reaction to a fidayeen attack is always less coordinated than terror attack because terror is planned and any kind of damage makes news for the attacker. A defender’s aim is to limit the damage. What is important is containment of the terror.
